Before / Pause / After treats the rug as a form of architecture: an object that marks territory, holds memory, and constructs a temporary sense of home.
The installation is built from modular ceramic fields surrounding a textile center. Each field is assembled from strands of Egyptian paste—a self-glazing, low-plasticity ceramic material developed from raw ingredients and adapted by the artist for extrusion through a ceramic 3D printer. The printer is not used for technological display; it makes possible a textile-like structure that the material could not sustain through conventional forming.
Fired once at low temperature, the material develops its own glassy surface. Repetition, color, and printed line move between ceramic, textile, and built space, while the modular plan allows the work to be reconfigured in response to each site.
